Karmod, one of the most favorite world brands in prefabricated buildings and containers was chosen to supply Shah Deniz project with construction site buildings that include administrative offices building and workers accommodation building.

The project, referred to as Shah Deniz in Azerbaijan and located 70 km south-east of baku is a natural gas deposit that was discovered in 1999. For the exploration projects in Shah Deniz, Karmod was chosen to provide 2 temporary container buildings for management offices and workers camps.

 

The project consists of 126 container complex and a prefabricated building with closed area of 2200 square meters. The container complex and prefabricated building are to be used by Azerbaijan BP gas managers, technical staff and workers. The pre-production of the project was completed and the installation is in progress.

As part of the 2 projects Karmod manufactured Managers and technical personnel offices, canteens, dormitories, locker rooms, kitchen, toilet and shower units and warehouses.

 

What is the Shah Deniz (SD) Project?

Discovered in 1999, the Shah Deniz is one of the areas with the largest gas reserves in the world with 1 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves.

It was found in the deep water of Caspian Sea, 70 km to the sout-east of Baku. The first stage of Shah Deniz project started operation in 2006 by BP Company producing 9 billion cubic meters per year. The project is suppling Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey with gas since 2006.

Shah Deniz Stage 2. What is it?

Shah Deniz Stage 2, or Full Field Development (FFD) is a giant project that will add a further 16 billion cubic meters per year (bcma) of gas production to the approximately 9 bcma produced by Shah Deniz Stage 1.

Over $25 billion capital investment will be required to produce the gas and transport it to the Georgia-Turkey border. From there additional pipeline systems are planned to deliver 6 bcma of gas to Turkey and a further 10 bcma of gas to markets in Europe. Shah Deniz Stage 2, one of the largest gas developments in the world, will help increase energy security of European markets through the opening of the new Southern Gas Corridor.

 

Shah Deniz stage 2’ project includes establishment of: two new bridges linked to the sea platforms, two semi-submersible drilling towers, 26 subsea wells, 500 km of subsea pipeline, Sangachal terminal expansion, the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), the infrastructure pipeline located in Europe and Turkey. The first gas exports are planned by the end of 2017.
